Next up- LIFE
Craft Club is fine, I'm gonna be dying paper next time (hopefully) and learning how to knit! Speaking of dying things, check out this scarf I made by letting it soak in a acrylic paint and water mix! It's actually made of a t-shirt. All you have to do is cut of them hem and right below the sleeves and stre-e-e-e-e-e-ch and cut at one end! I must've let it soak for 2-3 hours while I did my homework and had dinner.

Ugh, my hand got in the way when I took the pictures- ah- you can still see them! I got the polka dots on by taking the acrylic paint and dotting it around with my finger. Easy Peasy! The polo doesn't go with the scarf I know, but I didn't feel like changing just for the picture....

The weather's been gorgeous lately and I got these pictures of this gorgeous house from the bus.

I LOVE the tower in the front, as well as the old-timey feel it has-well-except for the cars....
Cheers Mates, Craft Club tomorrow!

Report on my first Craft Club Meeting and the Power of Garbage Picking (and my Christmas list)

Well, I am now the official founder of craft club and our very first meeting was today! The turn out...
wait for it...
wait for it...
sucked.
Myself and the our librarian who supervises the club showed up. Only. Despite multiple promises. However, she (our librarian) did show me her afghan loom she was knitting on, it was quite interesting and I got some work done on my scarf!

Teachers kept popping in asking to join (heck I'm not turning anyone down!) One guy who was the school photographer promised to teach us how to macrame and another wanted to learn how to crochet and she said she'd teach us how to knit next session! A girl in my class popped in when I was cleaning up and said she'd like to come give it a try, I was rather surprised seeing as how she's a basketball player, though then I realized that really has nothing to do with it....

I found this awesome old-fashion-y coke bottle two trash pits down (it's from 2011 and Spanish, I tried to bring one home from my trip to the Honduras but the security wouldn't let me.... Honestly, the stuff people throw away. That's real glass people! Any idea how to get rid of the label in the middle? I don't think it's a glue on label so there may not be a way.

My Christmas (or possibly earlier than that) List
1. A Pocket watch! I love pocket watches, there are some wicked HP and Steampunk ones on Etsy.
2. A Messenger bag, I have a messenger bag fetish
3. A glass cutter
4. Leather. Lots of leather. I love leather
5. A Metal stamp kit (hammer and pedestal too please?)
6. Michael's Gift Cards (or Home Depot, or Joanne's Fabrics)
7. A set of RP dice, Black, white, plain, elvish, I don't care, I just need me some RP dice! Lost mine.

Honestly this is the largest wish list I've ever had, normally I want one thing, or possibly two, or nothing. Being a rather frugal person I really don't look at what I want and more of what I need. If there's a craft I want to try I'll need the materials, then buy them as cheap as possible (recycling and substituting if I can). This year though.... I still got time so I'll be saving up my allowance to get as many of the items as I can, except for the pocket watch and gift cards and messenger bag- those stay as wish list only items....

Unless I decide to make my own messenger bag.... Hm....
Cheers Mates!

How to make a Marble Necklace

Mm, autumn is definitely here now! The light has gotten softer and my windows are wide open- I love the smell!

Anyways, here I am again to teach you how to make a marble necklace!
PS HOT GLUE DOESN'T WORK- IT MAKES A HUGE MESS
PPS I FINISHED HOUSE OF HADES *Squee!* I got it yesterday and finished it in about 4 hours

On to the tutorial! Again, hot glue just makes a mess, I ended up using Modge Podge

You will need:
A necklace chain, I'm reusing this cute necklace, I think I'm going to keep the washer things (they've got words on them)
Modge Podge and a brush (remember to wash the modge podge off the brush or it'll seal!)
A ring base (if you did my other DIY's you should have some)
Marbles!
OPTIONAL:
Leather cord to disguise the ring base. I decided against it because I liked the shiny look.

What to do:
Choose a marble

I narrowed it down to these 4 and eventually chose the dark blue one.

Loop the chain through the ring base and center it how you wish, then put the marble in and push so it gets stuck against the chain and ring base

Add Modge Podge around the marble and in the cracks, but try not to get it on the area with the chain or you won't be able to slide it back into position if it gets off-center.

Wait for it to dry and that's pretty much it! You can add what you want around the marble (little charms and stuff)

Here's the final product!

As always, sorry about the photo quality!

Glass Cutting and Etching...?

So, my History teacher sells Starbucks Frappuccinos for 2 bucks and I started asking my friend for her empty bottles. This is what I have so far.

8 bottles perfect for cutting and glass etching!
These are my materials, I spent like 30 or 40 bucks at Michael's (give or take, I bought some other stuff too) cost me like 8 weeks of allowance....
That's my bathroom rig by the way... Crazy right?! So little for so much! Well, I'm off to get the labels off the bottles! I found out oil (of any kind) and hot water and a rag do the trick nicely!

Steampunk Bracelet Tutorial!

Being a nerd today (as always) and wearing my Dr.Who Tardis shirt! My friend is going as 4 for Halloween- he's got the scarf and everything (I've got great friends) It's finally cooling down over here and my windows are open letting in that delicious smell of autumn! Work on my scarf is going good, I'm thinking of adding a checker or stripe pattering with a puff stitch (I crochet) or possibly a chevron pattern. I'm thinking of trying glass etching later today, or I may dye some more paper... I'm gonna try food coloring... hmm. What do you think?

So anyways, all of you (as in the one reader of this blog) asked about my bracelet from the last tutorial! I love that bracelet and have been wearing it a ton lately! The best part is that it takes (again) 5 minutes to make!

I bought the gears at Michael's and you hopefully already have the leather cord from Michael's from the last tutorial, if not, bring about $15 to your next Michael's trip because A) they have a TON of awesome stuff and B) It's all really expensive so you should bring extra (that's part of the 15) in case you see something you like.

So one you have the
Materials:
Leather Cord
Gears

You need to:
Measure your wrist, then add about 2 inches to tie it off (if that's too much you can cut it off later)
Pick out the gears you like and I dunno if you can see from the picture but there's holes on the side and in the middle, just thread them through there! You want the not-circular-gears on the end so you can thread the end pieces through the holes before tying them off. It's more secure.

Sorry about the quality of the picture by the way,
Tie it off and your done! Remember to leave excess cord so that you can tighten it when needed!
Heads up, I have a Pintrest board, it'd be cool if you guys could check it out! It's got a ton of food, nerdery, inspirations for future projects, and tutorials and tips! http://www.pinterest.com/draconaspark/boards/

Tata expect another post in about 5 minutes!
Cheers Mates!

5 Minute Rings!

So these literally take 5 minutes or less to make, possibly more depending on how nitpicky you are, this is my first tutorial ever that I genuinely did myself so I'm feeling paranoid/excited/a tad bit scared right now! Mostly I'm paranoid because I'm just paranoid (mildly) though... I meant to be doing the nerdfighter sign (FTW) but I forgot in the middle of taking the picture with my foot....

On to the tutorial!
You will need:
1 Hot glue gun!
2 (or one, or however many rings you're going to make) ring bases! These can be found cheap in craft/jewelry stores. As in 2-5 bucks (as a whole jewelry kit)
2 (or however many) flat backed vase marbles (these can be found for 3 bucks a bag at Micheal's, I have a pale and bright blue)
1 Spool of leather cord (slightly more expensive, also at Michael's around $9 for a full spool)
Scissors

How to do it!
First unwrap a length of leather cord and measure around the ring (band) except for the base where your marble is going to go.

Clip off however much you need

Put hot glue on the ring band and quickly stick the leather on. The metal and glue may burn but you kinda just have to get it done. (Sowwy)

Check that the leather band is where you want it. Hold it for a few seconds till the glue sets and clean up the extra strands. Clear away the bits hanging off the edge, but make sure you don't pull the glue out from under the band! You can use scissors for this part if you want.

I added another line of glue along the sides and two blobs of it at the end of the leather to keep it secure. The next part is easy, blob a nice fat blob of glue onto the base and stick the flat side of the marble on!

Clean up accordingly, and remember to let the hot glue gun cool down! AND NOW FOR SOME MORE PICTURES!

Some New Projects, and Old Ladies

No disrespect to the old ladies of course. Today is Blessing of the Animals at church, so after confirmation classes, I headed back to church with my hamster (Bandit). Those old ladies scare me sometimes, to be quite frank- either they sound like they're going to drop at any minute.... My hamster was rolling back and forth on the bench during the service (I have a hamster ball) and the two ladies behind me were watching it like hawks. I'm not quite sure whether it was because they were curious, or didn't like the noise it was making, or whether they were afraid it was going to bust out of the ball and attack them.

During the singing they sounded like they were going to die (no offense). They were singing with these ridiculously high, wobbly  voices that made them sound like they we're being shaken around violently. Man though, if they were gonna drop, they weren't afraid of it! They belted out those songs at the top of their lungs like nobodies business!

I'm working on a scarf and have been collecting bottles I want to turn into wind chimes or glasses. I also spent 7 hours (I kid you not, from 9am-3pm) cleaning my room. Then my mom gave me chores to do today. Bugger.

Got homework to do!
Cheers Mates!
